How to Install Pi-Cubes SDK on The ThingBox Node-RED Image.

The ThingBox Project is Raspberry Pi image ready with the Node-RED installation, and a lot of additional nodes.

Flash image and follow instruction on the site, please use “root” username instead of “pi” when you log in.

To install Pi-Cubes Node-Red  SDK on The ThingBox project, follow these steps:

1. Enable I2C on your Raspberry Pi following our blog instructions :

2. If the Raspberry Pi is connected to the Internet, it would sync time on startup. Only the time zone has to be setup correctly using raspi-config tool.

3. If you would like to use power backup, and safe shutdown function of the Pi-Cubes Main board, follow these instructions:

4. Follow these instructions to disable shell on the serial port:

5. Install Pi-Cubes Node-RED SDK

Go to node-red local folder, under the /root/thethingbox/node_modules/node-red folder:

cd /root/thethingbox/node_modules/node-red

Use npm to install Pi-Cubes SDK.

npm install node-red-picubes

Reboot Raspberry Pi.

sudo reboot

After the reboot, Node-RED should be running and accessible on:  http://{the-raspberry-ip-address}

In this case, Node-RED is running on the port 80.
